Ketter, Sheppard & Jackson, LLP traces its roots to a downtown Seattle firm founded in 1984 by David Ketter and Ken Sheppard. David built an established tax, trust and estates practice, while Ken brought deep corporate experience, including years as counsel to an international oil company before returning to his native Seattle. Jim Jackson joined the firm in 2009, and Steve King later became part of the practice as well.

After decades in downtown Seattle, the partners made the decision to relocate to Bellevue — a move driven by how much the practice of law has changed. Online research, electronic filing, and video conferencing mean clients no longer need a firm anchored to the courthouse district. Bellevue offers free parking and easy light rail access, making it a more convenient home for the firm and the clients it serves.

What hasn't changed is the firm's approach: long-term, personal relationships between partners and the clients — and often families — they represent. Many clients have been with these same partners for years, and that continuity remains at the center of how KSJ practices law.
